Uttarakhand, located in the Himalayas, has many high mountain passes that connect different valleys and offer stunning views. These passes, found in the Garhwal and Kumaon regions, have been used for trade and trekking for centuries.

In Garhwal, important passes include Mana Pass (5,545 m), one of the highest motorable passes, which connects India to Tibet. Niti Pass (5,070 m) is another ancient route linking Chamoli with Tibet.
