Rudraprayag is a meeting point of the Alaknanda and Mandakini Rivers. Rudraprayag city is named after the Rudra avatar (incarnation) of Lord Shiva. It is a holy city surrounded by beautiful lakes, huge glaciers, shining rivers, lakes, and streams. The place is situated at an elevation of 895 meters about 2,936 feet above sea level.

Ukhimath is a beautiful hill station and it is home to Lord Kedarnath and Madhyamaheshwar during the winter season. It is located at a distance of 41 Km from Rudraprayag and is situated at a height of 1300 m. Ukhimath is significantly important during winters in the spiritual aura as the lord Shiva and other gods are worshipped here for six months when Kedarnath is inaccessible due to extreme weather conditions in winter. The hill station is a must visit destination for those who wish to spend their holidays in the region during winter.
Augustmuni is situated on the banks of the Mandakini River and the place got its name from the religious Guru Agastya Muni who meditated here for decades. It is famous for Agasteshwar Mahadev Temple which is dedicated to Rishi Agastya. The place is situated at a height of 1,000 metres on the banks of the Mandakini River. During Baisakhi devotees visit the place in large numbers as it is the major event and is celebrated by hosting a huge fair.
Deoria Tal is a lake at a distance of about 3 km from the villages of Mastura and Sari and is situated at an altitude of 2,438 metres in the Garhwal region. The route to Deoria lake is a 3 km uphill trek from Sari Village. It is known for its heavily wooded, lush green surroundings with snow-covered mountains in the backdrop. The lake is also a part of the Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary and one can witness a few animals during early morning visit time.
Koteshwar Temple is another temple devoted to Lord Shiva situated in the heart of Rudraprayag. This temple is known as the meditating place of lord Shiva on his way to Kedarnath.

The travellers can take regular buses operating from Haridwar and Rishikesh to Rudraprayag. The road distance from Rishikesh to Rudraprayag is around 141 km.
