Kanvashram, near Kotdwar in Uttarakhand, is an important historical and mythological site on the banks of the Malini River. It is believed to be the hermitage of Sage Kanva. As per Hindu mythology, this is the place where King Dushyanta met and married Shakuntala, the foster daughter of the sage. Their son, Bharata—after whom India is said to be named—was also born here. Known for its cultural and spiritual significance, Kanvashram today draws pilgrims and visitors who wish to explore its sacred heritage and peaceful natural surroundings.
